Can you believe that it is only one week until Christmas Eve? Two weeks until New Year's Eve?! Many people have traditions associated with these holidays.

The past few years sponsors have generously contributed funds to help with the New Year's party at the RBS Orphanage. Last year the money was used to buy meat for this special occasion. We would like to continue the "tradition" of helping with the New Year's Celebration. (In KZ, New Year's, January 1st, seems to be the big day they celebrate.) We would like to help with the celebrations for the RBS and Sokolovka Orphanages.

We realize that with the current economic situation, people may not be able to donate much---however, even a little bit helps. We will send whatever we receive before New Year's.

November Sokolovka/RBS Siblings Reunion

This month children from the RBS Orphanage traveled to Sokolovka Orphanage to see their siblings. It is sad that siblings are separated. They have already exerienced some loss in their lives to be where they are. Then due to circumstances beyond their control they experience even more loss when they are separated from their siblings. Sometimes it is due to the difference in their ages. Other times it is due to their learning abilities or behavior. Then there are times that it is simply due to the fact of where an open space is. How sad!

We are happy these children are able to keep the connection and bond with their siblings during the Siblings Reunions. We are very thankful to the sponsors who donate to help make these reunions possible! We hope to be able to provide these reunions monthly.

Now that there are twice as many reunions, another way we are trying to raise funds for the Siblings Reunions and other Antares programs; is by selling the Antares pendants, key rings, and zipper pulls. To order e-mail: antares.foundation@yahoo.com

Siblings Reunion (RBS, Children's Village, and Poludino Siblings Reunited)

In November, older siblings from the Regional Boarding School Orphanage, and the Children's Village, traveled to Poludino to see their younger siblings. The siblings always look forward to this. The few hours they spend together each month is so special to them!

Antares 2009 Calendar Artists

The director of the Regional Boarding School Orphanage, presented the prizes to the winners of the Antares 2009 Calendar Artwork Contest. See the previous post for samples of the calendar and ordering information.

The calendar artwork was done by children at the Regional Boarding School Orphanage.

Funds raised will be used to help purchase dishes (plates and bowls) for the Regional Orphanage.
