Sokolovka Packages

THANK YOU, SPONSORS!

The photos above are of children at Sokolovka who received packages from their sponsors. These packages were delivered in December. There are more packages from sponsors still en route that will be delivered after they arrive. It is taking a long time this winter for packages from the US to get to Petropavlovsk.
>
Thanks to Judy Perlstein, her family, and friends, even more children at Sokolovka have sponsors now!
>
Many thanks to Mr. William Richard of Sterlington, Louisiana. He sent a donation for the boxes of fruit you see pictured in the background. Fruit is a rare treat, especially this time of year. Enough was purchased for the entire orphanage! They were very grateful!
.
Also, thanks to Catherine Nielsen who helped provide the funds for the fruits for the previous trip to Sokolovka.

Packages and a Party for "Family 9"

THANK YOU!

Thank you Ken and Barbara Hines and family!!!

Only a few children in Family 9 at the RBS Orphanage have personal sponsors. Barbara and Ken Hines sponsor Nina, one of the girls. However, Barbara and Ken wanted to do something special for ALL of the children in "Family 9". With the help of their extended family, they were able to purchase clothing and a toy for EACH child in Family 9; as well a provide funds for juice, fruits, and candies, for a special celebration.

A few children in Family 9 also received packages from their sponsors. It is always exciting when packages from sponsors arrive. Sometimes there are extra treats, such as candy, for all of the children. Today it was even more exciting, because EACH child received something special---just for them!

Thank you, Ken and Barbara Hines and family, for making today a special day for all of Family 9---one they will remember for a very long time!

New Year's Gift for Sokolovka Orphanage

We also sent money to help with a New Year's celebration for Sokolovka Orphanage. Instead of that, they preferred that we purchase something they needed---a new televsion! This will last longer and make a lot of children happy. Sokolovka Orphanage is on the outskirts of the small village of Sokolovka, about an hour's drive from Petropavlovsk. With the extremely cold weather (below 0 degrees Farenheit earlier this week) watching tv is something they can enjoy during their break. When school starts back, they can enjoy it after their classes and studies.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

RBS New Year's Celebration

Above are photos of the New Year's Celebration for the older children (9th - 11th grades) at the Regional Boarding School Orphanage. We've been told that the younger children also have a celebration. They have what is called a "morning party" , usually at 11 o'clock. The children dress up, put on different costumes. Rabbits and snowflakes are very popular.

Thank you to those of you who donated funds for the New Year's Celebrations at the RBS and Sokolovka Orphanages. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
