Antares Summer 2008 Postcard Project Update
August 11, 2008
Children from the Regional Orphanage at summer camp in Kazakhstan hold up the class photo and postcards sent to them from children in a summer school class in San Luis Obispo, California.
The children in KZ were surprised and happy to receive the postcards!
Special thanks to Laura Kirschner and her class for participating in the Antares 2008 Summer Postcards Project!
Special thanks to Peace Corps worker, Meghan, for her help in distributing and translating the postcards!
While spending some time at summer camp with the children she also encouraged and helped them with their English.
In addition to the Postcards Project, Meghan provided the graduates and older students with some "life skills" information. Antares supplied funding for copies of the information, that would be helpful after they leave the orphanage.
Antares also supplied the funds for all of the children to have cake after a special program.
Thanks again to Meghan for her assistance in arranging this treat for the children!
We are very grateful for all that Meghan has done to help the children.
With the funds that were left over from the money Antares Foundation sent for these summer projects, a CD player/recorder was purchased and donated for all of the RBS children to enjoy!

THANK YOU!
We would like to thank the many people who sent postcards! We received postcards from all over the US. They were well received in KZ. ALL of the children at the RBS camp received at least one postcard. The children were thrilled.
We hope to receive more photos, and we will post them, if and when we do!

Orphanage School Supplies!
Time to Start Thinking About:SCHOOL SUPPLIES!
I recently purchased school supplies for two of my children. It seemed like quite a bit, until I imagined what it would be like to purchase supplies for nearly 200 children!
Each year the Regional Boarding School Orphanage has asked us to buy the students notebooks so they can have new "mark books". We want to be prepared this school year and be able to have them when school starts on September 1st. We need to raise $250.00 to be able to purchase these.
The paper the children in Kazakhstan use is different from the notebook paper children here in the US use. That is why it is best for us to send funds and have the needed items purchased there.
This year we would like to be able to purchase these supplies for Sokolovka Orphanage (approx 200 children) as well as for the Regional Orphanage.
Please "Chip In" or send a check or money order to:

Diabetic Supplies for Diana

Here are the test strips Diana uses daily to check her blood sugar levels.
These are the OneTouch Ultra test strips.
THANK YOU to those who have already contributed money for Diana's diabetic supplies! We are off to a good start, but still need more donations.
In the previous post, I failed to mention that instead of the on-line "Chip-In" option, if you prefer, donations may also be made by sending a check to:
Antares Foundation
148 Tanglewood Lane
Sharpsburg, GA 30277
Antares Foundation is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization.
Note that the "Chip In" total will only reflect the "on-line" donations.
THANKS again to Kim and Pat Zomer who voluntarily hand-carried a six month supply of insulin to Petropavlovsk for Diana!
We really appreciate it!
