A New Experience

On Children's Day, many of the RBS children visited "Rakhmet". This is a big, new mall, which recently opened in Petropavlovsk. It was a new experience for the children!

"paxMem", pronounced "rakhmet" is a Kazakh word, which means "Thank you"!
Thank you sponsors of the "last bell" outings! Some more photos from the outings will be posted tomorrow.

June Siblings Reunion

Five Older Siblings Travel to See Their Younger Siblings

Together Again!

Brotherly Love

Putting Together the Pieces

Sweet Sisters!

Sharing Special Moments

Vanya Greets His Two Brothers
and also Acts as Big Brother to One of Their Friends

The Siblings Reunion for this month occurred on June 10th. Five of the older siblings traveled to the preschool orphanage to visit their younger siblings. You may be wondering where some of the other sibling sets are this month. There are various reasons why some sibling sets are not able to participate in the Siblings Reunions at times. As we experienced several months earlier this year, sometimes these reunions are not possible at all due to quarantines. Occasionally one of the siblings may be in the hospital, and that may mean that their siblings would have no one to visit. For some children, during holidays and breaks, relatives will take them home. Even less often, sometimes siblings are adopted and have a family!

Part of this month's Siblings Reunion was sponsored by a donation given to the Antares Foundation by Suzanne and Hilton Rubin in honor of Bill Brickhill's recent retirement from the Navy. CONGRATULATIONS BILL! Bill and his wife adopted siblings from Petropavlovsk last year. Though their children did not participate in Antares Siblings Reunions because they lived in the same orphanage; the Brickhills saw one of these reunions take place while they were in Petropavlovsk.

Thanks also to Sunny Hill Preschool families of Sudbury, MA, whose donations also helped to sponsor this month's Siblings Reunion.

Antares Summer Project!

Introducing ANTARES SUMMER 2008 POSTCARD PROJECT!

During the next few weeks, with your help, we are gathering postcards to send to all of the children at summer camp. Even though being at camp is a nice break from school and the orphanage, life there still settles into a routine. How exciting it would be for ALL of the children at the camp to receive mail from people living in various other parts of the world.......
