Summer 2010 Postcard Project!

For the past two years the Summer Postcard Project has brightened the lives of many orphans in the North Kazakhstan Region.

We will be delivering postcards to the children again this summer. Postcards are something affordable that most everyone can send.

INSTRUCTIONS: (Please read carefully!)

PLEASE PRINT! Many of the children study English.
Printed English is much easier for them to read than cursive handwriting.

SPONSORS: Send ONE postcard per sponsored child. Be sure to write your sponsored child's first and last name on it. You may send more postcards to be distributed to unsponsored children. Our goal is that every child receives at least one postcard!

ANYONE is welcome to participate in this project!
Postcards from people who don't sponsor a particular child will be given to children that don't have sponsors--there are many!

Send POSTCARDS of:

your city or town
your vacation
animals
extraordinary things
everyday ordinary things

If you can't find postcards send a 4x6 or 5x7 photo and write on the back!
Simply put a stamp on the postcard or stick several in an envelope and mail them to:

Antares Foundation
148 Tanglewood Lane
Sharpsburg, GA 30277
USA

Also, consider sending a few dollars (by check or PayPal) for a treat such as fruits, nuts, or candy to be delivered with the postcards!

PLEASE SEND POSTCARDS SO THEY ARRIVE TO US BY JUNE 1st!

If you have any questions, please e-mail: antares.foundation@yahoo.com

RAFFLE!

Antares Foundation will be having some raffles over the next few months to raise funds for an Antares trip to Petropavlovsk this summer! (June/July)

While there, as in the past, we plan to meet with the orphanage directors and find out how we can help the children and orphanages. A donation is usually made to each orphange. We hope to do some projects with the children too. Spending time with the children is our favorite part!

The "Postcards Project" has been well received in the past, and we will soon be announcing the details for the "Antares Summer 2010 PostCard Project." For now check out the wonderful Kazakhstan items you can win in this raffle!

Valentine's Day Party for Family 9

This sweet girl is sponsored by Barbara and Ken Hines.

Barb and Ken sponsored a Valentine's Party for "Family 9"

"Family 9", their sponsored child's group,
is the youngest group of children at the RBS Orphanage.

A letter from the Hines family was translated and read.
It means so much to a child to know that someone cares!
Look at the smile on her face! :)

After watching a concert that "Family 1" performed,
Family 9 had a party with with fruits and juice.

They enjoyed it very much!

Thank you Barb and Ken Hines!
Happy Valentine's Day!

NEW CLASSES AT THE RESOURCE CENTER

Combined English and Life Skills classes started the first week of February. The first class was a success and we expect that the number of students will increase. Classes will be offered weekly at the Antares Resource Center, with plans to add more classes by spring.

The classes are beginner's English, with a focus on learning life skills such as manners and confidence. Our teacher, Ana, has a degree in child education and counseling. She is also an English major.

In March, the Peace Corps Volunteers will begin life skills classes starting with budgeting and finances.

Thank you Paradise Empowers for making this possible and giving these young adults a better future!
